  • FAQ | Author Bair Klos

Frequently Asked Questions WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR? I've always loved to write and tell stories, but I finally set my mind to becoming a author when I was fourteen years old. If you want to read more about my author journey, check out my "about" page. HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH YOUR STORY IDEAS?/WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR STORY IDEAS? It's a mix of things. I would say most of my story ideas come from old daydreams I used to have when I was kid, some are from my random and strange dreams I have, and others seem to pop into existance out of no where. I also love retelling my favorite stories and putting my own twist on them. IS "BAIR" YOUR REAL NAME OR IS A PEN NAME? Bair is my real name! My dad came up with it when I was a baby as he thought it better fit my personality. And no, my parent's did not realize the implication of "Bair Klos" (like bear claws) when they named me. ARE YOU AVAILBLE FOR CRITIQUE, AND OR BETA READING? At this point in time, my availability is rather limited. Should I have any time to help, I would love to beta read and give critiques. If you're wondering about my current availability, please contact me through my 'contact' page. CAN YOU READ MY MANUSCRIPT, AND OR FIRST CHAPTER AND GIVE ME ADVICE? My availability is rather limited. I cannot guarantee I can read a full manuscript, but a first chapter (depending on length) is something I am available to reading. As for writing advice, please see my blog. CAN YOU GIVE ME ADVICE ON HOW TO SELF-PUBLISH MY OWN NOVEL? Not yet! But I will be able to in the future, so hold tight! In the mean time, I recommend checking out Sacha Black and The Creative Penn as places to get started. CAN I INTERVIEW YOU ON MY BLOG, AND OR PODCAST? Sure, I'd be happy to interview on your blog or podcast, but will depend on my schedule. But do feel free to contact me with your request and link to your website. HOW CAN I BECOME YOUR BETA READER? First off, thank you so much for taking interest in my work and wanting to become a beta reader :') Second, you can go to "The Glass Dagger" book page and just below the mock-up book there is a link to a google form where you can sign-up specifically to beta-read The Glass Dagger. If you wish to beta-read a different story of mine, please sign-up to my newsletter to be notified for when I am seeking beta-readers for future projects ARE YOU ON SOCIAL MEDIA?/WHERE CAN I FIND YOU ON SOCIAL MEDIA? I am! If you go to my author about page you can find all my updated social media links. CAN'T FIND YOUR QUESTION? CONTACT ME HERE .

  • About | Author Bair Klos

About My name is Bair Klos Bair Klos is a New Adult, fantasy fiction writer from Boston. With just shy of a decade of writing experience under her belt, Bair has spent the last several years cultivating her worldbuilding and wordsmithing craft. When she's not writing, Bair enjoys spending time with friends and family, and going out to afternoon tea. Who Is ? Photo Credit to Alexandria Ngo Bair Klos was born in spring of 2001 in Boston, Massachusetts. Before she could write her ABC’s, Bair has been a storyteller. Her earliest memories of storytelling are from her childhood when she would sneak into her mother’s purse and draw in the empty pages of her mother's notebooks—which usually comprised of mermaids, dinosaurs, and beloved movie characters—before later narrating to her mother who the characters were and what the stories were about on the backside of the pages. Despite her love for storytelling, trying to get Bair to read as a young child was like pulling teeth. In elementary school she would come to discover and love the “Ologies” book series by Dugald Steer, published by Penguin Random House, and take great inspiration from Wizardology in particular. Paired with her love for spending time in the Fells Reservation—just north of Boston—the combination of the two would plant the seeds for her eventual love of worldbuilding, conlanging, and of course writing. Come middle school, encouraged by her mother to read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, her desire to become an author was fully launched and she has never looked back since. Bair is currently pursuing an associate’s degree through BHCC to enroll at Emerson College to earn a bachelor’s degree through Emerson’s Writing, Literature, and Publishing major. Inspired by authors the likes of Gene Wolfe, Ursula K. Leguin Brandon Sanderson, Sacha Black, and Tolkien, Bair even launched a writing oriented podcast—the Two Tired Writers Podcast—in August of 2020 with her fellow author friend Kimberly D. Herbstritt. With just shy of a decade of writing experience under her belt, Bair’s love for storytelling through drawing has since shifted into a love and passion for the written word. Many of her story ideas draw inspiration from her old drawings and daydreams but as of late, her focus is New Adult, fantasy fiction. Dabbling in epic fantasy, contemporary romance, and retellings of beloved classics the likes of Orpheus and Eurydice and Peter Pan, Bair spends far too much of her time worldbuilding and not enough time writing her novels. When Bair isn’t dedicating her limited spare time to writing blogs that geek out over all things writerly and bookish, she loves self-improvement, afternoon tea, spending quality time with friends and family, and throwing dinner parties. Sign-up to her newsletter to stay up to date on her debut novel “The Glass Dagger” and get exclusive updates and insights on future projects, writer and reader resources, FREE literature, writing freebies, and a more personal side of Bair. Uncertainty lies around every corner, and people are not what they seem, so when he learns a sinister truth about her kidnapper—and what they have planned for the world—he must stop them before they condemn his world to a fate worse than death. Synopsis EPIC FANTASY | THRILLER | ROMANCE In the forsaken fishing village of Tyrwe, Kyl Eisele, a mute and illiterate blacksmith apprentice, yearns for more beyond his small and isolated village. But living in a village where perception defines your very existence, Kyl finds himself financially and socially bankrupt—overlooked, undervalued, and relegated to the shadows. So when he finds himself waking in the stables of the noble household he is supposed to be attending, he finds himself ill-prepared for the fateful meeting of Aelyria Moiral—Daughter Heir of said noble household, whose family is akin to royalty in Tyrwe. Feeling as though he’s been caught with his pants down, and with nothing to lose, Kyl strikes a bargain, beginning an unlikely friendship. But as their relationship deepens into an even unlikelier romance, Kyl finds himself enthralled by Aelyria’s intelligence and her tantalizing, potentially dangerous, secret. So when she is mysteriously kidnapped without a trace—his only clue a strange glass dagger of mystifying origin—Kyl sets off after her, swearing he will not rest until she is found. Meanwhile, from the dawn of human existence, in the realm of the divine where emotions are a foreign concept—an enigma best left to the mortal coil—one deity finds themselves inextricably drawn to the peculiarity of human life; captivated by the very emotions they, themself, cannot feel. As curiosity deepens into obsession, the ways of humans is too tantalizing to resist, and the deity finds themselves entangled within the lives of mortals, forever changing the trajectory of mortal-kind. But doing so draws the attention of a divine nemesis who views mortals as a blight. The perilous journey ahead will lead the apprentice to a destiny intertwined with divinity, uncover knowledge from a long dead ancient civilization, and befriend unlikely people: an enterprising young princess, a powerful shapeshifter, and a mysterious ship captain who harbors a secret that may just be the key to finding Aelyria. So as Kyl discovers the kidnappers’ actions are rooted in a millennia-old conflict that could threaten to end his world as he knows it, he must confront the limits of human mortality and the true power of the glass dagger. But where does Aelyria stand in it all? And can he save her, and his world, before it's too late? “The Glass Dagger” is a gripping fantasy adventure, rich with immersive world building, that weaves a tale of discovery, betrayal, self-acceptance, and the profound meaning behind the mortal condition and human mortality. Fans of The Stormlight Archive, The Wheel of Time, Earthsea, and Tolkien will enjoy this epic tale of battling gods and strength of the human heart. See More Projects World Map TGD Map
