ABOUT BAIR

During the COVID-19 pandemic—particularly in the late summer of 2020—I found myself spurred by love at my then boyfriend's desire for a notebook. It was a simple thing, my boyfriend wanting a notebook. and to show my love, I decided to pick up bookbinding.

I had done in 4th grade once for a class art project.

It quickly became a favorite pass-time and passion.

Since then, I’ve tried various traditional and modern binding techniques through classes self-taught lessons through YouTube, and at North Bennet Street School in Boston’s historic North End, where I deepened my skills in both classic and experimental methods. My hands have stitched dozens of journals, sketchbooks, and spellbooks.

I later added lathe-turned pens to the bindery’s offerings — because what’s a good book without a beloved writing instrument? The blend of tactile craftsmanship, natural materials, and a love of storytelling has shaped everything I create. Whether you’re a writer, a wanderer, a journaler, a list-maker, a dreamer, or a mystic… I hope you find something here that speaks to you. Something that becomes a part of your ritual. A tool that invites you to begin. Thank you for visiting the bindery. And thank you for supporting handmade creations from a dying art.
